WYANDANCH BARBERSHOP JOINS ISLIP SPA MADE FAMOUS BY DOCUMENTARY ABOUT HELPING CANCER PATIENTS

WYANDANCH, N.Y. -- Mondays are special for people going through cancer on Long Island.

Free beauty and wellness services are offered by a nonprofit organization. Monday began a new chapter, with the first barbershop joining the effort in pampering men. A cancer diagnosis is hard enough. Then add in the loss of hair from chemo.

"Losing the hair was the most traumatic experience," Carmine Buquicchio said. "I was crying. I was sitting in the chair holding hands of supportive people from Racine's."

"In 1989 my mother passed away to cancer," said co-founder, Rachel Demolfetto. "Fast forward many years later, my sister and I decided why don't we do something more than giving gift cards to various charities let's do something more substantial."

MONDAYS AT RACINE HOSTS LONG ISLAND BEAUTY BALL 2022

Mondays at Racine Cancer Care Foundation hosted its annual fundraiser, The Long Island Beauty Ball, on Monday, Oct. 24 at Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury.

The event, presented New York Cancer & Blood Specialists and hosted by Newsday TV’s Elisa DiStefano, honored Sheriff Errol D. Toulon, Jr., Suffolk County’s 67th Sheriff and the county’s first African American to be elected to a non-judicial countywide office.
