The Angels at Mondays at Racine are the most giving, caring, kind, understanding people! At a time when we cancer patients are in the midst of treatments that wear us down, alter our appearance and give us no guarantees for a future, these women lift us up, share their strength and talents and make us feel beautiful! No matter how exhausted I was from chemo or radiation, I rallied for my appointments and always walked out emotionally, spiritually and physically rejuvenated. Amazing volunteers, an amazing and unique place!

The women here are so wonderful. It”s not just because of the services they”ve provided nor is it the wonderful food. They are encouraging, understanding and inspiring. Coming here since my cancer diagnosis has helped me to cope during this difficult time.

When I walked through the door, I was greeted by Cynthia, Rachel and the rest of their wonderful staff who made me feel at home right away. There was coffee and a delicious spread of healthy homemade brunch foods. Then I was introduced to my massage therapist, Patti. I expressed to her what my aches and pains were and she understood immediately. Hers are truly “hands of magic,” and they knew exactly where to go. She also gave me tips on how I can stretch and even some exercises that I could do at home to help relieve my pain. The services that Racine is providing for cancer patients is invaluable. Their staff knows how to speak with you, and really takes an interest and listens. They ’get it’ because they have experience in dealing with cancer patients…having been touched by this disease in their own families. I just had my second stem cell transplant and received my first massage from Patti since September, this morning. It provided a tremendous relief...

I traveled an hour each way, one Monday a month and not just for the massage or Reikki or yoga or manicure, etc... it was for the loving environment created by the staff and the companionship of the other woman who were going thru cancer treatments too! Having survived for 15 months now, I have lived longer then 70% of the people who are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. With the support of my family, friends and organizations like Mondays at Racine, I hope to be one of the lucky 8% who survive for 5 years. Thank-you so much!

I brought my mom there today for her first post cancer hair cut & coloring…everyone was so kind and attentive. Thank you so much for helping me make my mom smile and making her feel so good about herself! We both had a great time there!

I have been in treatment for nearly 4 years for both Breast and Colon cancers. I have had 4 major surgeries, to 4 different organs and am currently in my 3rd session of chemo for metastasis. I had such a hard week last week, that I called my Oncologist and said I was about to give up! Then I had my Day at Racine today. What a difference a day makes! These women are angels on earth! I spent the afternoon being pampered, fed and educated! I left feeling like there is still hope, and with a renewed sense of self. I now feel that I can warrior on through all the horrid side effects and still have some shred of peace. The best part is, it”s all free! As a long time patient my personal finances are in the toilet, and I would otherwise not be able to heal my mind and body as the loving staff at Racine did today! Bless you girls! and love to all of you!

I”m a local health care professional who encouraged patients for several years to take advantage of the wonderful services offered for cancer patients to renew, refresh and recharge at the salon. Now, as a new client and recipient of their services I can attest to their boundless comfort and compassion extended by their founders and volunteers. They truly are the sunshine to many client”s cloudy days. Mondays at Racine nourishes internal and external beauty.
